Cytogenetics of Polyploids III. Dauermodifications in Ageratum conyzoides Linn
نویسنده
چکیده
The term "dauermodifications' was coined by Jollos in 1913 and he described it as a change induced externally by an experimental means at a definite moment (Jollos 1921). Sonneborn (1950) regarded dauermodifications as the traits induced by environmental conditions, manifesting temporary cytoplasmic inheritance. Hence, after some period, under the original conditions, the induced traits disappear and the original form reappear in the organism. Chandrasekhran and Parthasarthy (1960) regard dauermodifications as the changes induced by the environment that persists for several generations but gradually diminish and disappear. Singh (1964) regards dauermodifications as environmentally induced phenotypic traits that lead to an immature death of the organism: The premature death of the organism is generally regarded to be due to the lethal genes. Presently the term has been applied to the phenotypic changes induced, externally that gradually diminish in subsequent generations and finally disappear, under the original conditions. A lack of cytogenetical work in understand ing the phenomenon prompted the present investigations.

Wound Healing Effects of Ageratum Conyzoides Linn
The petroleum ether, chloroform, methanol and aqueous extracts of the leaves of Ageratum conyzoides Linn. (Asteraceae) were evaluated for their wound healing activity in rats using excision (normal and infected), incision and dead space wound models respectively. The effects of test samples on the rate of wound healing were assessed by the rate of wound closure, period of epithelialisation, wou...

BACKGROUND Many plants with antidiabetic properties probably act in part through their content of fibre, vitamins, bioactive or mineral content OBJECTIVES This study investigated the mineral, proximate, phytochemical compositions and hypoglycaemic effect of Commelina africana and Ageratum conyzoides extracts in diabetic rats, and the likely relationship between this property and the mineral, ...
متن کاملTHE ETHANOL LEAF EXTRACT OF Ageratum conyzoides AMELIORATES NIGERIAN BONNY LIGHT CRUDE OIL-INDUCED NEPHROTOXICITY IN FEMALE WISTAR RATS
The ameliorative potentials of ethanol leaf extract of Ageratum conyzoides against Nigerian Bonny light crude oil-induced nephrotoxicity in female Wistar rats were investigated. Twenty female Wistar rats (120-150 g body weight) were divided into four groups of five rats each. The rats in group I served as the control group and were oral gavaged 3 ml/kg of normal saline; group II gavaged 748.33 ...
متن کاملClinodiplosis agerati (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae), a new galling species associated with Ageratum conyzoides (Asteraceae) from Brazil.
Clinodiplosis agerati, a new galling species that induces stem galls on Ageratum conyzoides (Asteraceae) is described and illustrated (larva, pupa, male, female and gall) based on material collected in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The new species is compared with the other Neotropical species. This is the first record of the Clinodiplosis in Ageratum.
متن کاملInvestigations on Bioactivity of Essential Oil of Ageratum Conyzoides
Aflatoxins are highly toxic and carcinogenic metabolites produced by Aspergillus parasiticus on food and agricultural commodities. Natural products may control the production of aflatoxins. The aims of this study were to evaluate the Inhibition of Aspergillus flavus (La3228) and A. parasiticus (Ab2242) growth and their aflatoxin production exposed to the essential oil extracted from fresh leave...
